FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quotes, permits, contracts and payment, handover, hire and how to check a message is really from us.

01

Starting a Project

Is the first consultation free?

Yes. The consultation and the quotation are both free. You pay nothing until you have seen our proposal and signed a contract.

What do you need from me for a quote?

The type of project, where the site is, roughly how big it is, what stage you are at (an idea, drawings, a permit or a bill of quantities) and when you want to start. The quote builder on this site asks for exactly that.

If you have drawings or a bill of quantities, send them to info@williotce.com or on WhatsApp after you send the request.

Can you work from my own architect's drawings?

Yes. We price and build from your drawings, and tell you before we quote if anything is missing, such as structural or services drawings.

What is a bill of quantities?

A bill of quantities (BoQ) lists every material and piece of work in a project, measured from the drawings. It lets you compare quotes like for like and check what you are paying for. We prepare one with every quotation.

02

Permits and Approvals

Do I need a building permit?

In Ghana, new buildings and most extensions need a building permit from the metropolitan, municipal or district assembly before work starts. We prepare the drawings and documents the assembly asks for and support the application, which is made in the land owner's name.

Do you check land documents?

We ask to see the land documents before we build, because a permit needs them. Checking title is the job of a lawyer or the Lands Commission, and we recommend you have it done before you commit to building.

03

Contracts, Payment and Progress

How are payments arranged?

Payment stages are set out in the contract before any work starts, and linked to milestones on site, so you pay for work as it is done. Every payment term is agreed in writing.

How will I know how the work is going?

We report to you at each milestone with photos, and you can visit the site by arrangement. Clients abroad get the same reports by email or WhatsApp.

Which currency do you quote in?

We quote in Ghana cedis (GHS) unless the contract says otherwise. The currency is always stated on the quotation.

04

Handover and After

What happens at handover?

We walk through the finished work with you, clear any snags, and hand over the keys with a handover file: the drawings as built, test results, and manuals and warranties for the systems installed.

What is the defects liability period?

It is a period after handover, set in your contract, during which we come back and put right any defects in our work at no cost to you.

05

Working With Us

Which areas do you cover?

We are based in Greater Accra and our work so far has been mainly in Ghana. Tell us where your site is and we will tell you how we would run it.

Do you hire out your trucks and equipment?

Yes. Our tipper trucks are hired with a driver, and we hire out construction equipment and scaffolding. Rates are on request: send us the equipment, the site and the dates.

How do suppliers and subcontractors register?

Use the Work With Us page. We never charge a fee to register as a supplier or subcontractor, or to receive tender documents.

How do I know a message is really from WCE?

Our emails come only from @williotce.com addresses, and we never change our bank details by email. The Verify WCE page lists our official contacts and how to check a letter, a staff ID or a job offer.

Tell Us What You Need Built

The consultation and the quotation are free. Tell us the project, the site and the timeline, and the same team takes it from the first meeting to handover.
