Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH)

Water supply, sanitation and environmental works that protect community health.

What we do

Water supply, storage and distribution, sanitation facilities and drainage, planned with the communities that will use them.

Clean water and safe sanitation do more for public health than almost any other building work. Water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) is one of our three core areas, alongside construction and the environment, with a particular focus on rural and low-income urban communities.

We build water supply and storage systems, distribution lines and standpipes, sanitation blocks for schools, clinics and markets, and the drainage that keeps settlements dry. Our environmental and water engineering team plans each scheme so it can be run and maintained by the people who use it.

Questions

WASH: Common Questions

All questions
Do you work with NGOs and development partners?

Yes. WASH schemes are often funded by development partners. We can price to your procurement format and report against your milestones.

Who maintains the system after handover?

Usually the community, the assembly or the institution. We train the caretakers and leave a plain-language maintenance guide, so the system keeps working after we leave.
