Bridges and Culverts

Crossings designed and built as part of wider road and drainage schemes.

What we do

Box and pipe culverts, drifts and bridges that carry roads over streams and drains.

Most of the road network in Ghana depends on small crossings: culverts, drifts and short-span bridges. When they fail, communities are cut off. We design each crossing for the water it must carry and build it as part of the road that runs over it.

Our civil engineering team handles the hydraulic sizing, foundations, reinforced concrete and the approaches, with headwalls, wingwalls and scour protection so the crossing is not undermined in the first heavy rain.

Questions

Bridges and Culverts: Common Questions

All questions
Do you build culverts as a separate job?

Yes. Culverts and drainage crossings can be a stand-alone contract, or part of a road job. Either way we start from the flow the crossing has to carry.

Can traffic keep moving while you work?

Usually. We plan a diversion or build the crossing in halves, and agree it with the road owner and the assembly before work starts.
